It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I really wanted to enter the beat-up turbo Camry in a couple of car shows this summer, but the car leaked so much oil that I felt bad even driving it. This appeared to be due to the oil pump seals. I got the car in the garage a couple of weeks ago and slowly chipped away at replacing the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, and oil pump seals. I got it the belt back on and got it started. Now to install the dog-bone and front covers again. I’m sure this engine will still blow up, but the new parts can easily move over to the engine that’s on the stand.
It should also be noted since I don’t think it’s been mentioned here. I’ve installed a GM/Continental Ethanol sensor inline right before the fuel rail. I also swapped in a ES300 metal fuel sending unit, along with a Deatschwerks DW200 fuel pump. It’s been running pretty well on E85, except it DRINKS fuel. I keep my foot in it so much that it gets ~14mpg. I’ve also added 2-step using the clutch switch and only operating over ~60% throttle. Pretty sure that it’s caused my exhaust to open up like a sardine can.
